Flash Coming to iPhone!

Despite what Steve Jobs had to say a few weeks back, Adobe has announced they will be releasing an official Flash client for the iPhone via the upcoming App Store. Due to known SDK limitations, it is unknown how Adobe will approach developing this. As more information surfaces, I will be sure to keep you updated.

So, does Steve approve of what they're going to do, I mean, are they going to do what he wanted? Something in the middle, between full Flash, and mobile Flash?

I really hope that Adobe (Shantanu Narayen) and Apple (Steve Jobs A.K.A. El Jobso) can negotiate something with flash in the near near future. I know the Iphone will be way better off with a flash client and a lot of Iphone owners are going to benefit.

Although I am pretty confident that Flash will be the client of choice for the Iphone, I still wonder sometimes if there will any alternative for the Iphone. If there is any alternative at all.

Thanks Dave for the post. Keep the updizzydations coming!

Uhm.. Flash will be coming for the iPhone. The development process will be based upon a direct relationship between Apple and Adobe, rather than with the SDK. You should all know that the iPhone runs on a cut down OSX. The Flash thing was orginally announced internally not that far after the iPhone boom.

Also, yes, it will be the full version of Flash. No clear announcements will be for the version, but it will be later than 9.0.115, the H.264 (currently quicktime, and the core for YouTube's new players, and the iPhone content) compliant version.

The reason it wasn't compiled already was that Google was concerned about the YouTube deal already struck with Apple.

You still haven't emailed me yet... :P (youtube)

If you have any questions, drop down to the flash forum and find me or someone else.
