Official iPhone SDK Details

Today at 1:00 PM EST, Steve Jobs, among others from Apple, officially unveiled details regarding the upcoming iPhone/iPod touch software development kit. Due to the overwhelming amount of news learned today, I have provided links at the bottom of this post detailing everything Apple talked about in the keynote.

In summary, applications will publicly be available on iTunes this June. Some apps will cost money, others will not. This decision is totally up to the developers. Apple has posted a link to the iPhone SDK as a free download on their web site. Please note, an Intel Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.2 is required to run the SDK.

So what are your thoughts? Personally I cannot wait to see what the developers come up with. The possibilities are almost endless. My most wanted applications are probably games and an instant messenger client of some kind. I just wish we did not have to wait until June.

Below are several links of interest, including today's keynote by Steve Jobs:

@mike You can't make applications, the SDK, but you can download them in June when Mac users get them as well.

Actually, Apps aren't necessarily coming in June; Apple said the final version of the SDK would be done then, not that the App Store would be up and running.
